MYOCURE partner VUB invited as key note speaker at stem cells symposium

The Belgian Society for Stem Cell Research (BeSSCR) and the Belgian Society for Cell and Developmental Biology (BSCDB) joined forces to organise their first joint meeting on the use of stem cells as disease model and for gene therapy.

The meeting was held on May 27, 2016 in Brussels and offered an attractive programme including internationally renowned speakers. MYOCURE partners Prof. Dr. Thierry VandenDriessche and Dr. Kelvin Y.C. Chai attended this event. Prof. Dr. VandenDriessche was invited as a keynote speaker and gave a talk on “Next Generation Stem Cells Based Therapy for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy”. Further breakout topics at the meeting included IL13‐mediated alternative activation, DNA repeat instability, CFTR gene correction and Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

The Belgian societies BSCDB and BeSSCR aim to foster research on (stem) cell biology by promoting interaction between researchers working on all different aspects of stem cell biology in Belgium and worldwide.
